This past Friday I had the opportunity to take on a big beast of an event, called The Makeup Show. Now, let me tell you. The Makeup Show is the biggest trade show for beauty hosted by the Powder Group and directed by the world renowned James Vincent, Celebrity Rock, MUA that worked on people like Barack and Michelle Obama, Katy Perry, etc.

The group put the event together to create awareness for emerging and established artist to come to one another and educate each other about the business, execution, and craft of beauty.

When I arrived, the event was fashionably late. Which is great…I had the chance to go around the Hyatt Regency to experience some Reunion Tower. I spoke and networked some with some great ladies of the blogger world. By the time we got into the preview…Let me tell you it was fabulous. We had received a plethora of goodies which I will provide extra detail in the vlog posting with Becca Ashmon, MUA. People were setting up at the other side of the preview but Melody, my main PR hunty! Introduced James to us. James was amazing, so inclusive; so interesting with his style; and daring to speak about education that he gave me tips of beauty industry and also beauty execution secrets that I didn’t even know. Which would be amazing to express in my next set of editorials. James broke it down one by one. He introduced each keynote speaker with finesse; identified each item in our bag with amazing detail. I highly recommend this event to any inspiring MUA that wants to go out on his/her own and make it happen. So Fashion Week is almost here and this is basically one of the few posts i’ll be posting before the mayhem begins. Fall Fashion Week which happens in the end of the first week of February is known as the precursor to be all, become all of fashion. It’s large but not as large as Spring but it definitely makes the statement on who’s in and who’s out. Young designers are prepping their debut collections at this time, garnering knowledge of the industry, and how to sell. On the bloggers and journalist side. It’s the time to be critical and make or break these talented young people. Oh. The celebrities come in too. 

From a particular view of a blogger…

“The press and buyers are saying there are too many shows, and that means too much cabbing and walking! Then you have to fly from New York to London, then to Milan, and then to Paris! And if that’s not everyone’s version of a human hell, we don’t know what is!

And then there’s the whole “endless-wait” issue. If you’re anything like most people, you probably want a new tennis outfit every couple of weeks. And you’ll need a top hat for the cotillion, and since those are held semi-weekly, you may need the one with the red bow, and also the one carved out of a single Osaka pearl.”

  • 11 AM – MILK Studios has some cool events for people who are so cool you sort of avoid them
  • 5 PM – Some designers at Spring Studio or other TBA locales offsite

  • 2 PM – The line to get your press pass finally starts moving after some mix-up on Day 1; you roast some beans in a tin cup
   
  • 8 AM – Someone convinces you they totally know the designer to see if they can sneak in
  • 4 PM – You “bond” with a cab driver, then learn he’s a horrible person

  • 9:30 PM – Okay, I mostly had a good time
  • 11:30 AM – People watching on their computer actually have it pretty good
  • 4:30 PM – I really enjoyed all these great New York Fashion Week shows, mostly!

Kate Moss Gets Sexy Dangerous in Alexander McQueen 2014 Ad

Pictures Tells a 1000 Words and Many Stories

Hey folks, I decided that 2014 is a new year with many benchmarks and exciting stories. I wanted to change things up a bit so I can show you my world and what I do everyday with mostly only photos. No words except for the title and signature. I will post some special stories every now and again for profiling (those will be with words). Andre Leon Talley Leaves Wintour to Take Over Zappos Couture

So it begins, After a peaceful slam from American Vogue and a brief stint at ANTM judges table, Zappos CEO, Tony Hseih has brought on Andre Leon Talley as the new Artistic Director to revamp Zappos Couture; the luxury sale line for Zappos.com (acquired by Amazon. com). Talley will be focusing on the online editorial content for the web site along with establishing relationships with new designers and vendors that have not yet sold their products on the site. It is also concrete that Talley will be focusing on the creativity of the site and not the business side. From a interview with fashion business publication WWD; Talley discusses the future of online fashion branding and businesses; “The digital universe is a new, exciting opportunity for me to reach a broad audience in terms of the global luxury market,”  also stating that he wants to “create something unique, in terms of a Web magazine within the Zappos Couture Web site, that conveys the immediacy and excitement of luxury retail products, season by season.”  There you have it hunties. Yesterday evening I was wondering about an episode I saw of “Keeping with The Kardashians” a year or two ago about Rob starting his own line of socks. After remembering the soft launch that hit Nieman’s last year, I was wondering if the line went into fruition. So I did some searching myself and stumbled upon the website. This needs some crazy amount of work. Whomever is working with Rob needs to get fired bc this is terrible. Rob…there are better ways to get this out there.

The Warmth Shall Come

As I was purchasing my boy trunkies today. Which I will show you in a sec. I recognized after dealing with 70 degree weather yesterday and 52 degrees today. It’s time to pull out the big guns. Shoes…Demi Boots are the thing of the season gurls.  I love them so much!
